Alex's story

Alex told me this last night and we were both laughing so much.

Alex takes the girls to school. Each day you have the lunch boxes and jackets for both girls and on Mondays you have their blankets and sheets for nap time as well. So Alex was dealing with putting all of Lauren's stuff away in Room 2. Lauren pulls a piece of paper from her cubby and hands it to Alex. It is an invitation to a party but doesn't have Lauren's name on it. Alex is trying to read it and decide if it is really Lauren's when Lauren tries to pull the shoes and ballerina outfit out of the cubby above hers. Alex just pushes away her hand and tells her that is not her cubby. This happens one or two more times. Then a little girl comes in the room with the teacher crying saying that "he keeps telling me that it is not my cubby". Alex looks up from the paper and Lauren is eating her breakfast at the table. He had been telling the wrong blonde headed girl it was not her stuff!!!

Funny things

Lauren has learned how to spell her name. She already knows the alphabet. So now she sometimes spells her name L-A-U-R-E-N-O-P.

Lauren was asking for a lollipop while I was getting her dressed. I got upset. She wants more and more candy. I said no lollipops. Lauren got very mad, repeating lollipop, lollipop. Then Rachel explained that Lauren just wanted her lollipop shirt on. Oops.

We were all drawing with chalk on the sidewalk making pretty pictures. Rachel didn't want anyone to walk on them so she drew about 12 stop signs in front of the pictures.

I like soda but don't want the kids to like it (ie drink all my soda!). So one day I offered them some of my diet ginger ale. Rachel tried it first and took a little sip. She gave it back and said no more. Lauren took a big sip through the straw. She got a very surprised look on her face and then slowly let it all drip out of her mouth. Neither of them ask for my soda now.

Rachel likes to take a pad of paper and write down answers to her questions like a news reporter. Actually it started as a waitress. So she asked Alex what his favorite jungle animal was. When he said elephant, Rachel laughed and said that is not a jungle animal. Elephants live in the zoo!

Veil

Rachel has been into weddings again. She loves watching our wedding video. I decided to pull out my veil and Rachel modeled it for us.

Halloween: Daytime

A parade of all the classes and parents. Stay with your buddy.

Home shots before walking to school for the parade.

Baking together

We made sugar cookies for the Halloween party at school. Rachel wanted pink colored cookies and Lauren wanted yellow. Our first batches were happy faces which were pretty but missing something. So we decorated with chocolate chips. I didn't have any Halloween plates so the girls decorated the plates as well.

We're Taking a Little Walk

Anytime the girls can get away with it they try to jump and play on our bed. They are singing a song (one sentence again and again) that Rachel made up.

Dancing and Gymnastics

A video with twirling at home and some fancy gymnastic moves at class.

Tumblebooks

My kids love Tumblebooks. On our library website, you can watch and listen to short stories with some animation. Here they are watching one of their favorites about a Dad who sleepwalks and the son who has to watch over his Dad. Rachel hugs Lauren when Lauren gets scared. But even cuter is that Lauren was only scared because Rachel says "uh-oh".
